MEET THE OWNER
Myrna E. Molinaro, M.A., CCC-SLP
Myrna received her masters degree and B.A., both in Communication Sciences and Disorders, from The University of Houston. She holds an American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) certification of clinical competence (CCC-SLP), a speech-language pathologist license from the Texas Department of Licensing & Regulation (TDLR), and she established Spring Speech Therapy, PLLC in early 2023. Myrna decided to transition to the private practice setting after she gained clinical experience working in a variety of settings that included: 1) Acute Care - worked with adult in-patients in critical care, 2) Rehab Clinic - worked with adult out-patients after hospital discharge, 3) Pediatric Home Health - provided medically necessary therapy in patient’s home, 4) Public School District - provided therapy to preschoolers, children with special needs, and school-aged children in group settings to maximize their access to education, and 5) Private Clinic - provided one-on-one services that were tailored to the child and family’s needs.
Myrna’s journey in communication disorders began at eight years of age when her family immigrated from Mexico to Florida. It was there that she learned the importance of effective communication. Being in a new country and having to learn a new language at a fast pace allowed other skills to flourish at a young age, such as social communication, the importance of articulation to be better understood by others, intonation, non-verbal cues, and the reading of body language to decipher a message prior to being a fluent English-speaker. Initially, Myrna attended college to become an ESL (English as a Second Language) teacher to give English lessons to non-native speakers, as this class was her haven in elementary school and a place she found refuge when “lost in translation” during those early days. However, after getting married, taking a break from school, and having four children, Myrna became fascinated with the speech and language developmental milestones of her children, and how differently each one of them learned. After being a stay at home mother for a few years, Myrna returned to school and switched majors to Communication Disorders. It was extremely challenging to go to school with four busy children at home, but she would not have done it any other way as this allowed her to become the kind, hard-working, patient, and empathetic speech-language pathologist she is today.

Do you take insurance? At this time, Spring Speech Therapy accepts private pay (via debit/ credit cards, and FSA/HSA cards). Additionally, we are currently an in-network provider for Blue Cross Blue Shield, Tricare, and UHC Community Plan/Optum. We are in the credentialing process with United Healthcare, and are waiting for portals to open again for Aetna and Cigna. Upon request, Spring Speech Therapy can provide an itemized bill called a Superbill for you to submit to your insurance for reimbursement.
-
What is a Superbill?A Superbill is an itemized form used by healthcare providers that reflects services rendered, including diagnostic and treatment codes. A superbill is the main data source for the creation of a healthcare claim, which will be submitted to payers (the insurance company) for reimbursement for services paid out-of-pocket by the client. We recommend contacting your insurance company before starting services to learn how much your particular plan will reimburse. If you wish to submit an invoice for out-of-network benefits, ask your insurance company the following questions: Does my policy cover a licensed speech-language pathologist who is out-of-network? (If yes to #1) My speech pathologist provides session dates, CPT codes, diagnosis, and fees paid. Is there any other information that you need? What percent of the allowed amount will you cover? What is my out-of-network deductible? Does my policy cover charges for missed or canceled sessions?
-
What are the benefits of private pay for therapy? You are in control of the frequency and duration of your speech therapy. The decision is based on what is best for the client, not an insurance company’s policy. Most insurance companies limit the number of sessions you can have within a certain period. For example, 12 sessions per year, which is only 3 months of services if we meet once per week. If your health plan has a high deductible, your payments can often be higher than private pay rates so there’s a chance you will be required to pay more out-of-pocket initially. Depending on how high your deductible is, it may make more financial sense to go with private pay to maximize the number of sessions you can receive before reaching your deductible. Private pay fees reflect more time spent with our clients and planning for their sessions. We are able to take a much more personalized approach to meet each client's unique preferences and needs. You can use your HSA/FSA funds for speech therapy costs. This is a great option that gives you the flexibility and freedom of private pay services without paying out-of-pocket. You can also submit Superbills to your insurance company for possible reimbursement for services (depending on your plan's Out-Of-Network speech therapy coverage.). Again, this gives you the flexibility and freedom of private pay services without losing out on at least some insurance coverage. Health insurance is a very important resource for families, so please do your own research to find out what is best for you and your personal situation.

No Surprises Act and Good Faith Estimates?Beginning January 1, 2022, if you are not insured or if you opt for self-pay (i.e., not going through your health insurance), healthcare providers such as Spring Speech Therapy must provide you with an estimate of the expected charges before you receive services. This is called a good faith estimate (GFE). Healthcare providers and facilities must provide you with a GFE if you request one, or after you’ve scheduled a service. It should include the expected charges for all items or services that are provided as part of the same scheduled experience. The provider must provide a list of all items and services associated with your care. For more information, please visit the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) website at https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises

My child did not meet qualifications for speech therapy at school, but I think he would benefit from therapy. Can you help us?Yes! Oftentimes school districts adhere to different guidelines compared to private speech language clinics. In order to qualify for speech services in public schools, a child’s communication deficits must be below a specific criteria determined by the school district, state, and federal guidelines, and severe enough to be negatively impacting the child’s access to education. As the parent/caregiver, you have the right to seek therapy for your child from a licensed speech therapist in private practice. Some parents choose to pursue private therapy even if their child qualifies for speech therapy at school, which can enhance services received at school (often in a group setting). Other parents choose to replace school based speech services so that their child is not pulled out during their regular school day.
-
What if I already have a current evaluation? Many insurance companies require an evaluation to be completed by Spring Speech Therapy prior to approving therapy services. In other cases, we may be able to accept a current speech-language evaluation from another provider. However, the evaluation must have been completed within the last 6 months and contain the pertinent areas in which therapy is being requested. For example, if a client is requesting articulation therapy, the evaluation provided must have an area assessing speech sound production and development.

What is teletherapy and is it effective?Teletherapy has been a helpful tool for busy families, as it provides access to services without having to travel to an office location. Virtual services can help reach clients living in remote, rural, underserved areas, or areas with provider shortages. Teletherapy has demonstrated to increase the use of evidence-based practices in natural settings (homes, work), reduce wait times for services, ease schedule challenges, and provide a cost-effective service delivery model. What forms of payment does Spring Speech Therapy accept? We currently accept: check, credit and/or debit cards, and FSA/HSA cards for therapy services. Payment can be made via the IvyPay App or the Client Portal Link. All clients are required to have a copy of their photo ID and a credit card on file, and set to auto-pay at time of service. Please adhere to our payment policy that was signed as part of the mandatory intake packet for all new clients. If you would like an additional copy of this document, please let the office know.
-
What happens if I need to cancel?Attendance and participation in therapy along with transparent communication is essential to our therapeutic success. All cancellations must be submitted 24 hours prior to your scheduled appointment either via phone and/or email. *A fee of $50 may be assessed if the cancellations occur outside of the 24 hour window. This fee will be billed directly to the client and not their health insurance company, as medical insurance does not provide coverage for missed sessions. This fee must be paid prior to scheduling your next session. While Spring Speech Therapy understands that illnesses, inclement weather, and emergencies occur, we respectfully request that you avoid frequent cancellations or “no shows”. Please adhere to our attendance / cancellation policy regarding providing our office with advance notification for any cancellations submitted 24 hours prior to your scheduled appointment. The attendance / cancellation policy was signed as part of the mandatory intake packet for all new clients. If you would like an additional copy of this document, please let the office know.

Can my child benefit from both private speech therapy and school services?Absolutely! Many children participate in private one-on-one speech therapy in addition to school services. Spring Speech Therapy also treats many children who would benefit from speech services that did not meet strict criteria needed to qualify for public school-based services.
-
Will my child’s speech or language delay cause difficulties with academics or social interactions?Data indicates that children with speech and language delays are at risk for later learning and social deficits. An impairment in the areas of speech and language can have a detrimental effect on listening comprehension, reading and writing skills as well as overall communication confidence. It is also known to have a negative impact on self-esteem and relationship building. These are all factors that can be addressed with treatment.
